While tablets are mostly used for entertainment, they can also be used for productivity. Some tablets come with keyboards and can be used for tasks such as word processing and creating presentations.
Tablets have become increasingly popular in recent years. In 2015, global tablet shipments reached 205 million units, up from 172 million in 2014, according to market research firm IDC.
The popularity of tablets has been driven by the success of the iPad. Apple has sold more than 300 million iPads since 2010. Other tablet makers, such as Samsung and Amazon, have also been successful in the market.
The tablet market is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. IDC projects that global tablet shipments will reach 316 million units in 2019.
