Top 10: Games to Play in 2023

2023 is going to be a big year for video games. Here are 10 games to keep an eye out for:
1. 'Halo 6'
Halo 6 is the upcoming sixth main installment in the Halo franchise, currently being developed by 343 Industries and SkyBox Labs. Halo 6 is a first-person shooter video game, with the player assuming control of a supersoldier known as the Master Chief. The game will continue the story of the Master Chief after the events of Halo 5: Guardians.
Halo 6 is currently in development for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. A release date has not yet been announced.
343 Industries has stated that Halo 6 will be a 'different beast' from previous Halo games. The game will feature a new engine, and will be designed to take advantage of the Xbox One X's hardware. Halo 6 will also feature a new multiplayer mode, called 'Halo Infinite'.
Halo 6 is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2018. Halo is one of the most popular gaming franchises of all time, and Halo 5: Guardians was one of the best-selling games of 2015. Halo 6 is sure to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
2. 'Borderlands 3'
The highly anticipated third installment of the popular Borderlands franchise, Borderlands 3, finally released this September after six long years of waiting. And it was definitely worth the wait!
The game is set in the world of Pandora, which has been taken over by the evil Handsome Jack and his Hyperion Corporation. You play as one of four new Vault Hunters, each with their own unique skills and abilities, who are on a mission to stop Jack and take back Pandora.
Borderlands 3 is packed with more action, humor, and loot than ever before. The gunplay is as fun and addicting as ever, and the new characters and enemies are a blast to fight against. The story is also much more engaging than in previous games, and the new setting of Pandora is gorgeous and varied.
If you're a fan of the Borderlands series, or just a fan of first-person shooters in general, then you need to play Borderlands 3. It's an absolute blast, and is easily one of the best games of the year.
3. 'Red Dead Redemption 2'
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an action-adventure game developed and published by Rockstar Games. The game is a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption, and the third installment in the Red Dead series. The game was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018, and for Microsoft Windows on November 5, 2019.
Set in 1899 in the final years of the American Old West, Red Dead Redemption 2 follows the story of Arthur Morgan, a senior member of the Dutch van der Linde gang. As federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the country pursue the gang across America, Arthur must make difficult choices to ensure the survival of the gang while being torn apart by his own conscience.
The game is presented through both first and third-person perspectives, and the player may freely roam in its interactive open world. Gameplay elements include shootouts, heists, hunting, horseback riding, and interacting with non-player characters (NPCs). The game's online multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, was released as a beta version in November 2018 before a full release in May 2019.
Red Dead Redemption 2 received universal acclaim from critics, who praised the game's narrative, characters, open world, and visuals, although its control scheme and combat received some criticism. It became one of the best-selling video games of all time, with over 33 million copies shipped worldwide by the end of 2019. The game won several year-end accolades, including Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications.
4. 'The Elder Scrolls VI'
There is no doubt that The Elder Scrolls VI is one of the most highly anticipated games of the decade. After the release of the previous installment in the series, Skyrim, in 2011, fans have been clamoring for more. And it looks like they will finally get their wish, as Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI is in development.
While little is known about the game at this point, it is safe to say that it will be set in the continent of Tamriel, just like all the other games in the series. And, judging by the teaser trailer that was released, it seems like the game will take place in the province of Hammerfell.
This is all speculation at this point, but it is exciting to think about what The Elder Scrolls VI will bring to the table. With any luck, we will get our first look at the game at this year's E3 conference.
5. 'Cyberpunk 2077'
Cyberpunk 2077 is a highly anticipated video game that was released in December 2020. The game is set fifty-seven years after the events of the original game, in a world where people have advanced technology implanted into their bodies. The game has been praised for its immersive world-building, and its characters and stories have been called 'gorgeous and full of life'. However, the game has also been criticized for its buggy launch, and for its lack of polish.
6. 'Assassin's Creed Odyssey'
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a 2018 action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. It is the eleventh major installment and twentieth overall in the Assassin's Creed series and a direct sequel to 2017's Assassin's Creed Origins. It was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 5, 2018.
The game is set in 431–422 BCE, during the Peloponnesian War. Players control a male or female mercenary (Alexios or Kassandra, respectively) who fights for both sides of the conflict as they attempt to uncover the truth about their family.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its open world, story, and characters, but criticized its combat and technical aspects. It was a commercial success, selling over three million copies in its first week of release, and becoming the fastest-selling entry in the series.
7. 'God of War 4'
The next installment in the God of War franchise is currently in development by Santa Monica Studio. Very little is known about the game, but it is set to release in 2018.
The God of War series follows the story of Kratos, a Spartan warrior who was tricked into killing his wife and children by the Greek god Ares. Kratos spends the rest of the series exacting revenge on the Greek pantheon, before eventually ascending to become a god himself.
The most recent entry in the series, God of War III, released in 2010 to critical acclaim. The game was praised for its graphics, gameplay, and narrative.
It is currently unknown what direction the fourth God of War game will take, but it is sure to be an action-packed adventure.
8. 'Spider-Man 2'
Unlike last year's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which was a cross-generational release on both PS4 and PS5, Spider-Man 2 will be a PS5 exclusive.
In the short trailer, which showed the two Spider-Men teaming up to take on various villains, no gameplay was shown as the mysterious man expresses his desire for a real challenge, a gauntlet that will be taken up by the iconic Spider-Man villain Venom.
It's unclear if Venom will join Peter and Miles as a playable hero in Spider-Man 2, or if players will battle the web-wielding villain in the upcoming sequel. With a release date set for sometime in 2023, Insomniac has plenty of time to reveal more information in the future.
It's been a long time since we've seen a proper Spider-Man game, and even longer since we've seen a good one. Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 is the first game to truly capture the feel of being the wall-crawler, and it's a joy to play from start to finish.
The open-world of New York City is beautifully realized, and there's plenty to do and see in it. The main story missions are well-written and engaging, and the side-quests are also worth checking out. The combat is enjoyable and easy to get into, and there's a good variety of enemies to face. The game also looks great, and runs smoothly on both PS4 and PS4 Pro.
If you're a fan of Spider-Man, or simply looking for a great open-world game to sink your teeth into, Spider-Man 2 is definitely going to be worth picking up.
9. 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2'
As one of the most popular first-person shooters of all time, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is getting a special treatment for its PS5 release. The game will be available in a special 'vault edition' that includes a PS5 console, a copy of the game, and a one-year subscription to PlayStation Plus.
The console itself is a special edition PS5 that is designed to look like a military-style case. It comes with a matching controller and a special Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 decal. The console also comes with a special stand that allows it to be displayed upright.
The vault edition of the game will also include a special steelbook case, a physical copy of the game, and a one-year subscription to PlayStation Plus. The subscription will give players access to online multiplayer, as well as exclusive discounts and bonuses.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 vault edition will be available for pre-order on March 13th. It will be released sometime after October 28, 2022
10. 'Super Mario Odyssey 2'
The wait is finally over – Super Mario Odyssey 2 is here! The highly anticipated sequel to one of the best games of all time doesn’t disappoint, offering up more of the same amazing sandbox gameplay that made the original so special.
If you’ve never played an Odyssey game before, the premise is simple – Mario travels to different “Kingdoms” in order to rescue Princess Peach from the evil Bowser. Along the way he’ll collect Power Moons, which are used to fuel his Odyssey airship, and defeat enemies using his new friend Cappy.
Odyssey 2 expands on this formula in a few key ways. For one, there are now two player characters – Mario and Luigi – who can be controlled separately or together. There are also new Kingdoms to explore, including the scorching Hot Kingdom and the icy Snow Kingdom.
The biggest change, however, is the addition of “Super Mario Odyssey 2” mode. This new mode not only introduces a new story, but also allows players to collect special “Dark Side” Power Moons. These can only be obtained by completing challenging platforming sections and defeating powerful enemies.
Whether you’re a seasoned Odyssey vet or a total newcomer, Super Mario Odyssey 2 is an absolute must-play. It’s a stunning game that’s packed with things to see and do, and it’s sure to please everyone who gives it a try.
